Trattoria Alle Lance sits tucked away on a quiet side alley just off one of Venice’s busier tourist paths, offering a more relaxed pace from the canal-side crowds. This Italian restaurant leans into hearty, traditional seafood and pasta dishes that feel deeply tied to Venetian home cooking, with an emphasis on fresh, handmade pasta and generous portions.

The atmosphere is modest and unpretentious — the interiors might strike some as a little dated or simple, but this suits the local, straight-to-the-point dining experience. It’s the type of place where the focus is on the food and the familiar rhythm of neighborhood diners, rather than polished decor. The staff are warm and welcoming, often greeting returning guests by name, which adds a touch of genuine local hospitality in the midst of a mainly touristy area.

Trattoria Alle Lance is a good spot for those wanting to explore Venetian seafood beyond the usual, with dishes like squid ink spaghetti and various fresh fish preparations. Pasta lovers will appreciate the choices such as gnocchi with seafood or creamy cheese sauces. Portion sizes are notably ample, making it a practical choice if you’re looking for value alongside authentic flavors. Families and groups seem comfortable here, with an inviting tone that extends even to guests new to the nuances of Venetian cuisine.

Visitors often find themselves coming back to try different dishes, which says a lot about the consistent home-style quality the kitchen delivers. Lunch or dinner both work well, but the quieter alley it’s located in makes evening visits particularly pleasant, when you can settle in without the crowds pressing in.

Overall, this trattoria feels like a spot you might discover by chance if you wander past the main tourist routes and are hungry for honest Italian cooking in a calm, no-frills setting that welcomes repetition and exploration.

Our first restaurant to try during our visit to Venice, and I must say it couldn’t have been better. Starting with the joyful greetings of Daniella, to the home felt food prepared with love. This place is a must try, trust me, we went more than once to try different things from the pastas to the pizzas.

this place definitely deserved a 5 star rating for the price to quantity ratio! one of the better food we ate in venice for the price point. dont be fooled by the interior which may look abit dated, the portion size was much better than expected that we went back twice! really enjoyed the spaghetti with mussels qnd gnocchi was pretty good too! the set meal is really a bang for your buck and the fries were hot and fresh which was a good change from the other restaurants

Our family with a young kid was offered two dinners here during our stay in Venice at the restaurant's owners' hotel. The restaurant is located in a small, quiet ally inside a crowded, touristic area and is not difficult to find. It was an interesting experience to us as tourists trying local dishes that we did not fully understand what they were before ordering, dishes that otherwise we would not have ordered. So we came here twice. The restaurant was not very busy at the time we visited, and we were served by the restaurant owners. They are happy people and there was nothing to complain about the service. The food came out quick and was delicious. The portions were large and we had to try to finish them to avoid food wasting. They speak English well.

Perfect hideaway from the bustling tourist street. Just a slight turn into an alley and it is there. Like a Harry Potter hidden gem. Serving yummy lunch and dinner sets. The portion is huge for each item in the set. For €13 set or €16 set it is totally worth it. Seafood set example - squid ink spaghetti and fried calamari and fries Meat set example - Lasagne, beef stew and fries As the choices available are everything we wanted to taste in Venice. Yummy and affordable A perfect hidden gem

It's been a year and a half since I've had their pasta a la vongole and I'm STILL thinking about it. I've tried elsewhere in Italy and cooking it back home, but can't get anywhere as good. We saw huge sacks of flour being brought in while we were there, so they clearly are making everything fresh in the kitchen and the quality shows.

During my four days in Venice I ate at this restaurant two times, wish I had more. It is really an experience. The staff is very nice, especially one of the Ladies whose laughter and good mood fills the place. The food is very tasty and good and the serving sizes are way bigger than in other places in Venice. Also, I didn't feel overcharged by the drinks and services as in other places. Don't be fooled by the decoration that seems a little bit outdated it just adds to the mood.

Had an amazing birthday dinner at Trattoria Alle Lance! Excellent service, delicious food, I came back two days later for lunch. Good fixed menu that comes with a pasta, a main dish (meat or seafood) and a side salad for €13/€16 plus a 2 euros head charge. So €15 total if you get the meat and €18 for the seafood. The gnocchi was really delicious. As was the spaghetti with the spicy sauce. And the rosemary beef was great. And the tiramisu. And generous portions. A good price for the high quality of food!
